Targeting metabolic disorders, improving CNS-ovarian axis for improved fertility

Female fertility rate is declining worldwide. One of the reasons for this decline could be environmental pollution, but lifestyle and nutritional factors also play very important roles. Several studies show that diabetes, obesity, a high-fat diet and diseases like policistic ovaries affect women's fertility rates. Several researchers have suggested that these phenomena are related to mitochondrial functions. This debate session is devoted to the role of the mitochondria in oocyte quality and successful pregnancy.
