Retinitis Pigmentosa: new therapeutic possibilities for blindness caused by hereditary dystrophies.

In Italy, about 15,000 people suffer from Retinitis Pigmentosa, a rare, hereditary and degenerative disease that leads to blindness.

The evolution of the disease varies from case to case, it may appear at different ages, but its impact on the patient’s everyday life is increasingly invalidating.

But how much do we really know about this disease? And what therapies are currently available?

To answer these questions, a number of free meetings, sponsored by Second Sight Medical Products will be organized in cooperation with Associazione Retina Italia Onlus [Nonprofit Association “Retina Italia”]. The meetings are addressed in particular to patients and their families, as well as to ophtalmologists and other parties involved.

During these meetings, Engineer Maura Arsiero, who works for Second Sight Medical Products, will provide information about the disease, including current scientific research and will present Argus® II Retinal Prosthesis System, the first therapy designed for patients suffering from retinitis pigmentosa at an advanced stage that has obtained CE and FDA approvals.

For further information on date and place of the meetings (evening meetings) and to confirm participation, please call the toll-free number 800 87 96 97
