Cesare Faldini, born in Florence on 10-7-1971. Graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1996, Specialist in Orthopedics and Traumatology in 2001 at the University of Bologna Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli.


University Researcher since 2001, Eligible for Band II for the MED 33 sector in 2006, he was called as Associate Professor of Orthopedics and Traumatology in 2008 at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Bologna. Confirmed Associate Professor in 2011. Winner of the qualification for Band I in 2012, he has been Full Professor at the University of Bologna since 2016.

Director of the School of Specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Bologna, he teaches in numerous degree courses including: Medicine and Surgery and Podiatry.

From December 2011 to May 2016 he was Director of the Complex Structure of Orthopedics, Acting Director of the Rehabilitation Structure and Director of the Rizzoli Sicily Department of the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute.

Since May 2016 he has been Director of the I Orthopedic and Traumatology Clinic at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute in Bologna.

He has performed more than 5,000 spine, hip, knee, shoulder, foot, and trauma surgeries as principal surgeon.

The overall consistency of the scientific activity is divided into 308 invited lectures, reports or communications at national and international congresses.
Of particular note among the reports are the 52 reports presented at the Congresses of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Orthopedic Research Society. He also presented 62 reports and communications at the Congress of the Italian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology.

As for articles, he has published a total of 281 papers on a broad area of clinical research in orthopedics.
Among these, 15 articles in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, 9 in Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research, 5 in International Orthopedics, and 5 in the European Spine Journal stand out: 84 appear in scientific journals "Science Citation Index", 93 are abstracts or articles on scientific journals or books published abroad, 24 in the Italian Journal of Orthopedics and Traumatology, 39 in scientific journals or books published in Italy. He oversaw the publication of 6 monographs and is the author of 35 scientific cinematographies.

He is co-author of the 262-page "Manual of Orthopedics" for students, a text adopted in numerous Italian universities as a reference text for Medicine and Surgery Students. Published in 2008 and currently printed in over 3300 copies.

He is the author of the monograph "Degenerative scoliosis", a 230-page text, a specialized volume on acquired deformities of the spine.

Volunteer orthopedic surgeon in developing countries, he went to hospitals in Tanzania, Togo, Eritrea, English Guyana, during his holidays and self-financing. He has operated on over 1500 children suffering from serious deformities such as congenital clubfoot, varus or valgus knees, outcomes of infantile cerebral palsy or poliomyelitis. Together with 4 other colleagues he founded Orthopedics ONLUS to better organize the voluntary activity. He has been invited as Teaching Professor of Orthopedics, at Georgetown Hospital in English Guyana, at Afagnan Hospital, and at Halibet Hospital in Asmara in Eritrea to teach local orthopedists surgical techniques for correcting severe deformities childhood orthopedics.
