Almost 10,000 new diagnoses of oral cancer are issued every year in Italy. The national prevention appointment called "Oral Cancer Day" started in 2007, on the initiative of the National Association of Italian Dentists (AMDI), and each year confirms its usefulness, gradually acquiring the support of new important institutions. The willingness of Italian dentists to periodically carry out a massive screennig to identify potentially dangerous lesions is a sign of social commitment that the country cannot fail to appreciate.
