ESOD, against new drugs
First pilot project to study and combat new psychoactive substances
The ESOD project, the first hospital team in Italy dedicated to the study and treatment of new psychoactive substances, has been inaugurated in Pavia. Led by Professor Carlo Locatelli, the facility is located within the Poison Control Center of the IRCCS Maugeri Hospital and represents an innovative model at the European level. The goal is to address the challenges posed by emerging drugs, which often elude traditional diagnosis and treatment methods, with a multidisciplinary approach integrating toxicology, psychiatry, and clinical medicine. This represents a decisive step towards protecting young people and developing new intervention strategies.
