The conference dealt with infectious diseases in paediatric age focusing on prevention, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects. Prevention is particularly important in young patients as this may dicrease the use of antibiotics and counteract the worrying phenomenon of resistance. Much attention was also paid to vaccinations (new products and aspects to combat endemic diseases), immunogenetic aspects of recurrent infections and new treatments of serious infections of the central nervous system.
