The 31st SIMG National Congress was held in Florence, from the 27th to the 29th of November. As of this year, the traditional acronym logo of the Società Italiana di Medicina Generale [Italian Society of General Medicine] is enriched by the addition of “and Primary Care”. This wording stresses the operational launch in several Italian regions of a new territorial healthcare organization, based on AFT (Aggregazioni Funzionali del Territorio, Functional Territory Aggregations) and UCCP (Unità Complesse di Cure Primarie, Primary Care Complex Aggregations). The conference addresses these topics and their numerous implications in detail, also dealing with clinical issues, which were analysed from two different points of view (the point of view of the specialist and of the General Practitioner) with the goal of encouraging a dialectical exchange of ideas and creating synergies.
